Try, try again

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” ~ attributed to Albert Einstein

“Insanity: staying up until 3:00 a.m. both Friday and Saturday revising your manuscript contest submission and then expecting to have enough functional brain cells to proof the final copy on Sunday before submitting it on Monday, when repeated replication of the experiment over the past four decades has already told you it ain’t gonna happen that way.” ~ attributed to Kathy

Pea green: the color you feel every time you replicate the experiment

    1. If I don’t try to write, I have no chance of succeeding. But if I stopped trying to do it the same way every time–if I’d just write and revise during the day and sleep at night rather than meander around during the day and start writing and revising at midnight–then I might have a chance of finding more stray typos in the final run-through. There’s the insanity. But–better a little craziness than no writing at all.

    1. I don’t have a website either. I just put my blog address in that box. Or sometimes leave it blank. If I feel like being slightly anonymous.

Perhaps you are having an experience similar to mine? In the fight to retain the ability to proofread?

    1. Words of wisdom indeed.

There’s a sky-diving business near my hometown. My dog and I used to love hearing pop-pop-pop and looking up to see all the pretty parachutes floating above us.

But as for diving myself–No. I would have to be dragged on a hurdle thither. I shall not try it a first time, so there is no chance of an again.

But I shall file the words under “decorative” until I meet someone in danger of needing them.

Thanks for visiting and for making me smile so early in the morning. I believe you’ve given my brain a jumpstart.

    1. Glad I could help. Pea green really describes my condition yesterday. Until 10:00 p.m., when I got my second wind, of course. As for writing…I suspect it’s an obsessive/compulsive thing.
