Trying Something New

I am trying something new—using MS Word to create a post.

So far, we are not amused. I tried to crop the picture but failed. Now I can’t find the crop icon.

A quick tour of the Dummies book could solve several petty concerns, but so could scrapping Word and composing on the WordPress post screen as usual.

Decisions, decisions.

(It’s Threadgill’s. Liver and onions, asparagus, and black-eyed peas. Lunch with Just for the Hell of It Writers.)

    1. Pseu, thanks for the tip. I’ll try it. Things were fine until I got to the photo and suddenly had no idea what I was doing.

  1. I like your idea of trying something new as part of your writing process. It’s rather eye-opening, isn’t it, to realize how much the tools we use can affect our writing experience. Sometimes — if I’m stuck for words — I’ll abandon the keyboard entirely and write with a pen and paper instead. It doesn’t always help, but it often serves as a kind of “reset” button for my inner writer. Anyway … hope your lunch was as delicious as is looks in the photo!

    1. I’ve recently had to go back to pen and paper to slow myself down (and to stop myself from editing). I also love computer “gadgets,” seeing new screens and new icons and so forth. They do serve as “resets.”

Lunch was indeed good. One of the perks of being a critique group is that we find excuses to treat ourselves.

  2. Lunch looks yummy. Just fyi, I use Open Office as my word processor. It’s a free download and I love it. I’ve been using it for years because it was compatible for me to transfer my documents from my computer to the newspaper. MS Word sucks. It came on my new computer and I used it a time or two just as a test and was not pleased.

    1. Thanks for telling me this. I love Open Office, but I’ve been afraid there might be a problem with sending attachments. However, someone told me to save as Word 97-03 and there would be no problem. I still pine for WordPerfect. I used it at work for a couple of years, and the Reveal Codes was so helpful.
