By this time tomorrow, the sycamore tree in my front yard will be gone. Sycamores need a lot of water, and over the past few years, Texas, like the rest of the Southwest, has suffered a severe drought. The tree was one of its casualties.
So tomorrow it has to go. I’ll be there when it does.
That sycamore and I have been friends all my life. While I watch it come down, I’ll have my crying towel close at hand.

That’s very sad. I hate to see trees go.

Me, too. The front yard will look naked now.

Thank you. It shaded the house for a lot of years.

Hate your tree has to go. I had one once, like yours, and it was broken by another tree falling on it. I still miss the shade it provided in the back.

That’s a shame, losing two trees at once. They keep yards and houses so much cooler. Thanks for commenting.

Many a summer evening was spent in that side yard, under those trees. Much laughter, songs, and just old fashion fun! Not many young people today will ever know the pleasure and the love that comes from just such gatherings. I too will miss seeing the trees, and mostly my family there..

If we hadn’t all been singers, we’d have been inside watching television. A terrible fate. We could see stars back then, and mosquitoes were much smaller.

My sycamore has not been affected in the slightest

I’m glad. Are you near water? Maybe mine had lived out its appointed years and the drought finished it off. But the town lost a lot of trees of all kinds, and so close to the river. Thanks for your comment.
